We Choose Us in the World

There was a night the world tried to pull you away,

soft lights, a crowded room,

a woman reaching for something that wasn’t hers.

But something in you stood still.

In the middle of temptation,

in the middle of noise,

you felt it,

a quiet certainty calling you back to me.

So you left.

Not hesitant, not divided,

but with conviction in your chest,

driving through the dark

as if even the night knew where you belonged.

You came to me with flowers in your hand,

a gift,

and something deeper than words in your eyes.

And in that moment,

I didn’t need an explanation.

I felt it…

chosen.

Fully, intentionally, unmistakably chosen.

And I knew then,

I had already fallen for you.

We have lived through storms since then,

through the fragile and the fierce,

through the parts of love that test

what it means to stay.

We have both fought our battles,

within ourselves, within this world,

to prove that what we have is worth it,

that it is something to be held,

something to be cherished.

And even in broken pieces,

we are there for each other.

In the darkest moments,

in the loneliest hours,

in the quiet edges of everything,

we remain.

Till we can finally breathe again, with a steady heart.

Because when we are together,

the world fades.

There is a space we step into,

untouched, unseen,

where it is only you and me.

A world within the world.

And in this life, with everything it holds,

you chose me in this world,

and that means the world to me.

And from anyone in the world,

I choose you

Sincerely, Krystle Kelley
