He walked in, boots steady, cowboy hat low,

With a single red rose, petals soft and aglow.

I smiled at the sight, surprised and beguiled,

As he handed it over, shy yet wild.

There we sat, sake in our hands,

Sharing glances like whispers, no need for plans.

He’d fallen first, though I didn’t yet know,

How he’d be the heartbeat to each breath I’d sow.

We spoke of dreams, of sunsets and trails,

The city lights faded, our Wild West words.

And when he said, “Come see Fort Worth tonight,”

The world narrowed down to just us and starlight.

A single rose from a man in a cowboy hat,

Marked the night where my heart leaned back.

He loved me first, with quiet command,

Until I followed, took his hand.

Years have gone by, but that moment remains,

A cowboy’s rose, love born like rain,

Soft, steady, yet wild in its roam,

My heart opened wide, and he was my path home.

Sincerely, Krystle Kelley
